Ichtho Vet® products contain sulfonated shale oil
Many, many moons ago (± 200 million years ago), the area of today's Alps was covered with a beautiful lagoon landscape. Organic materials, such as algae & phytoplankton, settled in layers on this ground. These materials were then converted into an oily liquid containing organically bound sulfur by sulfate-reducing bacteria. Since the 19th century, sulfonated shale oil has been extracted from these rocks. Ta-da! That's how we get the main ingredient - yonks of Mother Nature perfecting her skills of helping to heal our fur babies today.
The complex process of extracting pale sulfonated shale oil
Sulfur rich oil shale is a kerogen-containing sedimentary rock from the Mesozoic era.
